## Download

* [Download Shadowscale using the App Store](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shadowscale/id1408634435). 
* Open the Shadowscale app once. (Important).
* Return to this page and continue below.

## QR Code

Tap the QR code. This opens Shadowscale and downloads the server list.

Alternatively, you may tap the + symbol in Shadowscale and scan the QR code off your computer screen.


## China

If you're in China, you may want to enable the **Smart Routing** option. This improves performance for WeChat, Taobao and other Chinese apps when in China.

You will have to re-connect to the VPN after changing this setting.

## Improve Performance

For improved performance we recommend you enable the **DNS Cache** option.

## WhatsApp &amp; Line

To allow for WhatsApp and LINE voice calls, enable the **Allow UDP bypass** option.
