After China blocked a number of our servers in September, we disabled Shadowsocks in many of our locations and separated it out to dedicated Shadowsocks servers in others.
As we anticipated then, China has now started to use Shadowsocks as a means to detect and block VPN servers. Today, a sizable number of our remaining Shadowsocks servers were blocked.
For now, if you need a connection to one of the blocked locations, we recommend you use one of our different VPN apps/methods.
We'll release an updated version of Shadowsocks sometime before the end of this year. This updated version should be even harder to block.
