GL-iNet Beryl
Please be aware that while 12VPX doesn't officially support the GL-iNet Beryl router, the insights shared below come from a valued client's personal experience. We've made minor edits for clarity, but greatly appreciate their contribution.
- Router Model: The user experimented with the GL-iNET's Beryl model.
- Storage Limitations: The Beryl router comes with a total flash memory of 32 MB, out of which only 16 MB is usable. This space is insufficient for accommodating the 'xray' application and its associated packages.
- Workaround with SD Card: Fortunately, the Beryl model is equipped with an SD card slot. The user modified the opkg.conf to set an alternate destination on the SD card to install necessary packages. While this method is effective, it diverges from the standard approach and is not endorsed by OpenWRT.
- Comparison with Newer Models: GL-iNET offers models with more extensive storage. Notably, the newer Beryl AX boasts a 256 MB flash, presenting a significant improvement over the older Beryl model. Additionally, it has double the RAM. Though the user hasn't personally tested this model, their experiences with the older Beryl suggest that the Beryl AX might be more accommodating without the additional workarounds required for its predecessor.
- Software Preference: Instead of the Passwall software, the user opted for v2raya. It's worth noting that v2raya utilizes 'boltdb', which is incompatible with 'jffs2'. This necessitated another modification, redirecting its configuration location to the SD card.
